5 Questions About CoolSculpting®

It seems like the popularity of CoolSculpting isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. If you haven’t tried it yet, you probably still have a few questions about exactly what you can expect if you visit our Dallas dermatology practice. Let’s review the 5 most common questions we hear from prospective CoolSculpting patients:

  1. How long does a procedure take? In order for the CoolSculpting device to adequately freeze fat cells, it needs to work for 1 hour per treatment area. We have 2 CoolSculpting machines in our office, which means we’re able to treat 2 areas of the body at the same time — a practice called DualSculpting™. DualSculpting cuts the treatment time for 2 areas in half.
  2. How many treatments are needed? It depends on the patient and the area treated. While some patients see satisfactory results after a single treatment, others require a second visit to achieve their goals. This is especially true of “non-pinchable” areas of fat, such as the outer thighs.
  3. How long should a person wait between procedures? It’s best to wait for the results from the initial treatment to develop before deciding to undergo an additional treatment. We recommend 3 months between treatments.
  4. How much does it cost? The cost of your CoolSculpting procedure will depend on which area of the body you’re treating, whether you have DualSculpting, and other factors. During your initial consultation, we’ll offer you a quote that reflects the details of your particular procedure.
  5. What are the risks or side effects? Because CoolSculpting is not an invasive procedure, the risks are relatively low. Patients often describe discomfort for a few days after treatment, similar to the muscle ache you’d feel after a hard workout. It’s important to choose providers who use trademarked CoolSculpting devices (you’ll know because the devices are manufactured by ZELTIQ®) to avoid risks related to poor temperature regulation.
