Case #45

This woman who is 38 wanted her Nasolabial folds less pronounced.  Juvederm Ultra Plus was performed to plump up the folds and give her a more youthful look.

Keep in mind that each patient is unique and your results may vary.

How Does JUVÉDERM Work?

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural substance in your body that provides volume to skin and keeps it smooth and supple. Fillers use HA in gel solutions that are injected to replace the volume lost because of aging, sun damage, or disease. Some dermal fillers, such as Restylane®, are quite similar to JUVÉDERM as an effective, low-risk wrinkle treatment.

What sets JUVÉDERM apart, however, is the smoother texture of the injected gel and the patented cross-linking of the molecules. Like other HA-based solutions, JUVÉDERM poses almost no risk of infection or allergic reaction because HA is a naturally occurring acid.

What Does JUVÉDERM Treat?

Some of our patients see results from JUVÉDERM injections after only a single treatment; others might need additional injections. The results typically last from 6 to 12 months. Here are some of the conditions JUVÉDERM treats:

  • Smile lines: Also called nasolabial folds, these folds run from the bottom of the nose to the corners of the mouth.
  • Marionette lines: The vertical wrinkles below the mouth’s corners running down to the chin are known as marionette lines.
  • Vertical lip lines: Smokers are especially susceptible to these lines that appear above and around the mouth. Most of us develop these lines as we age simply because our lips move so often and are exposed to the sun. These lines often respond to a single JUVÉDERM treatment.
  • Thin lips: Lips that are thinning and flattening with age or those that are naturally thin can be instantly plumped and sculpted with JUVÉDERM.

JUVÉDERM is an excellent way to plump wrinkles from beneath the skin for a long-lasting, natural-looking improvement without surgery. You can also ask about JUVÉDERM VOLLURE XC, a filler approved by the FDA to treat nasolabial folds and “smile lines,” which can last up to 18 months, although experiences vary.

Your Custom JUVÉDERM Treatment

Although JUVÉDERM and other injectable treatments are minimally invasive, it’s still very important to choose a qualified provider to perform them. Dr. Stetler, Dr. Polder, and Dr. Feetham, as well as their highly trained support staff, have the expertise to ensure your injections are both safe and effective.

Part of being a qualified provider also means having the technical skill to combine treatments to maximize your potential. Many patients combine a JUVÉDERM treatment with injections of BOTOX® Cosmetic or Dysport® and other non-surgical procedures for a complete facial rejuvenation. Our doctors along with their team, can create a comprehensive treatment plan to address your specific needs. Qualified, experienced specialists can assess those needs by considering a range of factors, such as your background, lifestyle, and genetics and recommend a range of treatment options.

Personalizing cosmetic treatments for a broad spectrum of patients requires knowing the subtle differences between injectable treatments and knowing which procedures will be the most beneficial for each individual. JUVÉDERM can be combined with other fillers and BOTOX injections in a liquid facelift. We can also pair your treatments with skin tightening procedures such as Thermage® or exfoliation techniques such as  chemical peels.
