How We Can Help

Dr. Stetler, Dr. Polder, Dr. Feetham or our certified physician assistants, Jennifer, and Melissa Barrer, will ask you several questions related to your medical history in order to determine your risk for developing skin cancer. If a suspicious mole or lesion is present, it will be closely examined in order to determine whether or not it is cancerous or pre-cancerous. A skin biopsy evaluated by a pathologist may be performed.

Proper diagnosis is essential for choosing the most effective approach to treatment. Our dermatologists are highly trained in identifying the different types of skin cancer and developing the best approach to treatment.

Choosing Your Treatment

After the skin cancer cells have been examined and a diagnosis is reached, your doctor may recommend one of the following treatments:

  • Surgical Excision: Tumor or mole removal in Dallas through surgical excision can be effective for most forms of skin cancer. Usually only a local anesthetic is needed and the tissue is removed using a scalpel.
  • ED&C Procedure:This technique uses a special instrument to scrape off the surface of the cancer and then heat the base of the tumor using an electric needle destroying the cancerous tissue. ED&C treatment is often used for small, superficial forms of skin cancer and skin cancer on the torso, legs, or arms.
