What Does Fraxel Do?

Like other resurfacing techniques, Fraxel treats skin imperfections such as fine lines and wrinkles, scarring, pigmentation irregularities, sun-induced redness, and to some degree skin laxity. Unlike other techniques, Fraxel does so with little, or at least much less, recovery time.

How Does Fraxel Work?

Fraxel works by emitting very small, precise points of light into the skin surface. The laser penetrates deep into the skin to remove old, damaged skin cells, stimulates the body’s own natural healing process, and replaces the cells with fresh, healthy, new skin. Because the technology is so precise, Fraxel treatments work not only on the face, but also on delicate skin areas including the neck, chest, and hands.

Your Fraxel Options

Fraxel comes in several different iterations to suit the varied needs of our patients. During your consultation, your practitioner helps you choose the right version for your skin. We offer the following:

Fraxel re:pair is a more aggressive, deeper treatment that requires only a single session. To achieve a comfortable treatment, patients are administered oral medications and both topical and local anesthetics are used to numb the skin surface. Recovery period for the Fraxel re:pair is approximately one week of wound care, which includes some degree of redness, swelling, and peeling of the skin. This is a deeper treatment for more advanced photo damage and deeper wrinkles.

We also offer Fraxel Dual, which treats pigmentation in addition to improving the texture of the skin and minimizing fine lines and wrinkles.

Your Results

Results from Fraxel re:pair, and Fraxel Dual treatments are immediate and progressive. Soon after treatment, the skin will feel softer, look brighter, and show a more even tone. The results will continue to improve over the following 4 to 6 months after the treatment as the deeper layers of the skin continue to heal and remodel.

Enhance Your Results

After your treatment, we may also recommend SkinPen™ microneedling to complement your results. Microneedling is a precise, minimally invasive treatment that we often use to improve the appearance of acne scarring or uneven skin texture.

Exosomes Q&A

What are Exosomes?

Exosomes are extracellular vesicles that come from STEM cells, carrying nucleic acids, proteins, lipids, and metabolites. These transit vehicles are integral to body functions, helping with waste management, wound healing, and other key bodily functions. But, without the proper cell signaling components these exosomes are not able to do much on their own.

What’s special about EXO|E Technology?

EXO|E Technology is based on a proprietary system utilizing biomimetic nanoparticles. Combining 20 times the amount of cell signaling versus similar products, introducing 15 billion exosomes, and additionally adding over 2,000 stem cell factors per application the EXO|E Rejuvenation Line results in faster recovery and an improved patient treatment experience.

What skin types are best for this treatment?

EXO|E is safe for all skin types. Patients should always consult their practitioner for advice.
