KYBELLA is made from a chemical that’s naturally produced in the body to help absorb fats. It is the first and only non-surgical treatment approved by the FDA to reduce fat below the chin. When injected into the fat, known as submental fat, it destroys the fat cells. Clinical trials demonstrated that KYBELLA is safe and effective for contouring the area below the chin. Dr. Polder customizes treatments for each patient, who may get 50 injections during a single treatment.

A patient concerned about other skin concerns may want to combine KYBELLA treatments with one or more of the aesthetic services offered at our clinic, such as dermal fillers or skin rejuvenation.
The prescription drug is approved only for treating the area below the chin. It’s not clear if KYBELLA could help destroy fat cells in larger areas, such as the hips or abdomen.
Dr. Polder creates a unique treatment regimen for each patient, depending on the amount of fat below the chin and the patient’s cosmetic goals. Some patients may see optimal results in as little as 2 to 4 treatments. Treatments are spaced at least a month apart and each session includes a series of injections, although the number will vary from patient to patient. Up to 6 treatment sessions are possible.
The most common side effects are swelling, bruising, numbness, redness, and small firm areas around the injection sites. These are temporary. It’s important to choose a specialist who is trained to inject KYBELLA.
