The Fraxel laser system includes a family of treatments our dermatologists offer in Dallas, Texas, that allows both patients and physicians to benefit from the priceless gift of choice. With the 2 lasers, Fraxel Dual and Fraxel re:pair®, you can decide how you want to attain the remarkable results that Fraxel treatments can deliver.
What Does Fraxel Do?
Like other resurfacing techniques, Fraxel treats skin imperfections such as fine lines and wrinkles, scarring, pigmentation irregularities, sun-induced redness, and to some degree skin laxity. Unlike other techniques, Fraxel does so with little, or at least much less, recovery time.
How Does Fraxel Work?
Fraxel works by emitting very small, precise points of light into the skin surface. The laser penetrates deep into the skin to remove old, damaged skin cells, stimulates the body’s own natural healing process, and replaces the cells with fresh, healthy, new skin. Because the technology is so precise, Fraxel treatments work not only on the face, but also on delicate skin areas including the neck, chest, and hands.
Our Team Leaders
Our board-certified dermatologists, Dr. Lori Stetler, Dr. Kristel Polder, and Dr. Jill Feetham, lead a team of experienced and highly trained aesthetic specialists who provide exceptional patient care.
Fraxel comes in several different iterations to suit the varied needs of our patients. During your consultation, your practitioner helps you choose the right version for your skin. We offer the following:
Fraxel re:pair is a more aggressive, deeper treatment that requires only a single session. To achieve a comfortable treatment, patients are administered oral medications and both topical and local anesthetics are used to numb the skin surface. Recovery period for the Fraxel re:pair is approximately one week of wound care, which includes some degree of redness, swelling, and peeling of the skin. This is a deeper treatment for more advanced photo damage and deeper wrinkles.
We also offer Fraxel Dual, which treats pigmentation in addition to improving the texture of the skin and minimizing fine lines and wrinkles. Fraxel Dual is a non-ablative laser which can safely treat all skin types for the improvement of acne scarring, or post-surgical scarring.

Fraxel® Skin Resurfacing FAQ
Will I need more than 1 sclerotherapy treatment?
It depends on the specific veins being treated (size, location, etc.) and your own personal physiology. During your consultation, your doctor will give you a better sense of how many treatment sessions you may need to see the best results.
What does a sclerotherapy treatment feel like?
Our patients agree that sclerotherapy is a relatively comfortable treatment. Most patients say they feel the initial prick of the needle followed by a mild burning sensation as the sclerosing agent goes to work within the vein. A lingering ache may be present in the treated leg for a few days after treatment, but it shouldn’t preclude you from going about your usual activities. Our patients using sclerotherapy for spider veins at our Dallas office are able to get back to their regular routines immediately after treatment, but we advise them to avoid strenuous exercise for a few days. Anesthesia is not necessary for sclerotherapy treatment.
What causes spider veins?
Spider veins get their name from their appearance, which is similar to that of an intricate spider web. Researchers have found that well over half of adults have spider veins, which typically develop on the legs. These thin red, blue, or purple veins are caused by increased pressure in the legs, although they also seem to have a strong hereditary component. Some factors that contribute to their development include:
Age (older people are more likely to have spider veins)Regularly standing or sitting for long periods of timeObesityHormones/pregnancies
What other treatments do you offer to improve the look of my legs?
Whether they opt for sclerotherapy or a laser treatment, most patients are thrilled with the results of their vein treatments. Thanks to a renewed sense of confidence about the appearance of their legs, some patients choose to further enhance results with additional services, such as:
CoolSculpting®: This treatment freezes unwanted fat cells, effectively killing them. Over time, the dead fat cells are flushed out of the body naturally. Quick, comfortable CoolSculpting treatments are a great option for reducing stubborn bulges on the inner and outer thighs.
Laser hair removal: A series of just a few laser hair removal treatments can leave legs smooth indefinitely — no more stubble, razor irritation, or nicks to cover up, and no more shaving or waxing necessary.
How much do vein treatments cost?
It’s difficult to provide an exact figure because every patient is different. At the Dallas Center for Dermatology and Aesthetics, we develop a customized treatment plan for each patient that may include sclerotherapy, a laser treatment, or both. During your consultation, we’ll evaluate your specific concerns and draw up a treatment plan that’s right for you. We’ll also provide you with a precise quote.
How is the Excel V laser different from other skin lasers?
Lasers are incredibly versatile tools in the dermatology world, and they come in many forms to treat a wide variety of skin concerns. Laser skin resurfacing treatments such as Fraxel® remove outer layers of damaged skin and stimulate cell renewal for a softer, healthier-looking complexion. IPL, which is similar to a laser, uses concentrated light energy to scatter pigment in your skin, reducing dark spots and other color irregularities. The Excel V laser is different from both of these services because its green light targets only the red discoloration of vascular abnormalities.
How does the Excel V™ laser treat veins and rosacea?
Excel V is a multimodal laser, meaning it is specifically designed to treat a variety of different vascular lesions including port wine stains and spider veins in addition to rosacea. Excel V works by administering a powerful green laser to abnormal blood vessels. The laser’s energy is absorbed by the blood vessels, which are damaged and eventually seal shut. The blood vessels then gradually disappear. Because vascular lesions are caused by abnormal blood vessels, the Excel V laser is able to treat a variety of these types of concerns.
What does KYBELLA cost?
Treatment prices vary based on the patient’s needs and the number of procedures required. You receive a quoted price after consulting with Dr. Stetler or Dr. Polder.
Can KYBELLA be combined with other treatments?
A patient concerned about other skin concerns may want to combine KYBELLA treatments with one or more of the aesthetic services offered at our clinic, such as dermal fillers or skin rejuvenation.
Does KYBELLA work in other areas besides the chin?
The prescription drug is approved only for treating the area below the chin. It’s not clear if KYBELLA could help destroy fat cells in larger areas, such as the hips or abdomen.
How many treatments are needed?
Dr. Stetler and Dr. Polder create a unique treatment regimen for each patient, depending on the amount of fat below the chin and the patient’s cosmetic goals. Some patients may see optimal results in as little as 2 to 4 treatments. Treatments are spaced at least a month apart and each session includes a series of injections, although the number will vary from patient to patient. Up to 6 treatment sessions are possible.
Are there side effects?
The most common side effects are swelling, bruising, numbness, redness, and small firm areas around the injection sites. These are temporary. It’s important to choose a specialist who is trained to inject KYBELLA.
How many people have been treated with KYBELLA?
Numerous clinical trials held worldwide included more than 5,000 patients before the FDA approved the treatment for use.
Is Restylane better than JUVEDERM?
Not necessarily; both Restylane and JUVEDERM are excellent, FDA-approved hyaluronic acid filler families, and the “better” choice depends on your goals, facial anatomy, and the area being treated.
Restylane may be preferable when you want precise shaping and definition, natural-feeling movement, or a more structured lift in areas like the cheeks and midface. In practice, many providers use both brands strategically—sometimes even in the same treatment plan—to get the most natural-looking result.
How long does Restylane last?
Most Restylane fillers last about 6 to 12 months. Some patients see results last closer to 12 to 18 months, depending on the product, area treated, and how quickly your body metabolizes filler. In general, softer, more flexible formulas, often used for lips and fine lines, tend to wear off sooner. Firmer, more structural options that are often used for the cheeks, chin, and deeper folds may last longer.
Are Restylane fillers safe?
Restylane fillers are considered safe when administered by an experienced injector. This family of brands is FDA-approved and is well tolerated by the vast majority of patients. In the event of a complication or aesthetic concerns, Restylane fillers can be safely dissolved.
How often will I need to get microneedling?
After an initial series of treatments, patients can maintain their results with a treatment every 6 to 12 months, depending on their lifestyle and individual factors.
Can microneedling really help improve acne scars?
Microneedling can significantly improve acne scars by stimulating collagen and elastin production, which helps smooth the skin’s surface, reducing the appearance of scars over time.
Is microneedling worth it?
Yes, many patients consider microneedling an effective way to renew their skin’s texture and radiance. It stimulates collagen production, improving skin texture, reducing fine lines, and enhancing the overall appearance, making it a valuable investment in your skincare routine.
Can a liquid facelift fix jowls?
A liquid facelift can help with mild jowling by adding volume and structure beneath the skin. However, more pronounced skin laxity may be better corrected with skin tightening treatments like microneedling and Thermage®.
How much does a liquid facelift cost in Dallas?
Our prices for a liquid facelift depend on a variety of factors, including the targeted areas, the number of areas being treated, and your individual needs. We encourage you to make an appointment for a cosmetic consultation so we can create your custom treatment plan and discuss pricing in depth.
We participate in the Allē Rewards program for savings on future treatments. While it may seem advantageous to look for the best bargain, your results and safety depend on the training and experience of your injector.
How long does a liquid facelift last?
A liquid facelift typically lasts between 3 to 18 months, depending on the products used, the areas treated, and the rate at which your body metabolizes them. Many patients maintain results with a yearly refresh and smaller touch-ups as needed.
Which JUVÉDERM is best for lips?
The best JUVÉDERM product for your lips depends on your lip enhancement goals. VOLBELLA XC offers subtle, smooth lip enhancement and reduces lip lines, while ULTRA XC is typically used when you want more noticeable volume. Your injector will recommend the best option based on your natural lip shape, how much fullness you want, and how soft or defined you’d like the result to look.
How long do JUVÉDERM fillers last?
Most JUVÉDERM results last approximately 6 to 24 months, depending on the filler’s thickness and firmness, the treatment area, and your individual metabolism. In general, softer gels used in high-movement areas like the lips wear off sooner, whereas thicker, more structural formulas that lift and contour tend to last longer.
What’s the difference between VOLBELLA, VOLLURE, and VOLUMA?
VOLBELLA, VOLLURE, and VOLUMA are formulated specifically for different goals and areas. VOLBELLA is thinner/softer for subtle smoothing and refinement (commonly lips and fine lines around the mouth). VOLLURE softens moderate-to-severe lines and folds in the lower face while still allowing natural movement. VOLUMA is thicker and more durable, designed to add lift and volume to the cheeks and midface. Our team strategically selects the right formula for the right area to deliver balanced, natural-looking results.
How often will I need to get fillers to maintain results?
Most people maintain their dermal filler results with touch-ups every 6 to 18 months, depending on the filler used, the treatment area, and individual metabolism. Areas with more movement (like the lips) often need more frequent maintenance, while areas like the cheeks can last longer.
What’s the best dermal filler brand?
The “best” dermal filler depends on your goals, the area being treated, how much structure or softness you need, and how long you want results to last. Some fillers are designed for smooth, flexible correction in areas such as the lips and under-eyes, while others are better suited for adding lift and definition to the cheeks or jawlines or for stimulating collagen to gradually improve volume over time.
Our expert injectors will recommend the right option after evaluating your facial anatomy and skin quality, then tailor the product choice, placement, and technique to deliver natural-looking results safely.
How can I make my results last as long as possible?
Although dermal fillers are temporary, they can provide many months of noticeable improvement. The longevity of a dermal filler treatment is highly dependent on the type of filler administered, as well as your own unique anatomy. The best thing you can do to preserve your results is to follow your practitioner’s instructions closely. Although there is no significant downtime required after a procedure, you may need to refrain from touching the injection site or temporarily avoid certain substances, such as alcohol. Prior to your procedure, we’ll help you understand what to expect from your results, as well as how to maintain them for as long as possible.
Can dermal fillers be combined with other treatments?
Yes! At the Dallas Center for Dermatology and Aesthetics, we often recommend a combination approach to help patients resolve several aesthetic concerns at once. It’s perfectly safe to “mix and match” dermal fillers or have them administered in conjunction with BOTOX or Dysport in a procedure called a “liquid facelift”. Treatments such as microneedling, facials, and Hydrafacial® can complement your results. Dermal fillers can also help enhance the results of other treatments, such as Thermage®. Our professionals look forward to helping you find the right options to reveal your most beautiful skin.
What happens to the dermal filler ingredients as they wear off?
Dermal fillers are not meant to last forever. Depending on the type of filler used, as well as its placement, the results of a treatment can last between several months and 2 years. The ingredients in dermal fillers gradually break down and filter out of the body through normal metabolic processes. Sculptra Aesthetic, a dermal filler that uses poly-L lactic acid, comes with the added benefit of promoting collagen growth within the skin. Over time, the poly-L lactic acid is flushed out of the body while the new, natural collagen stays behind.
Who is a good candidate for a dermal filler treatment?
These products work well and are safe for nearly anyone who is interested in erasing wrinkles around the face or adding volume to the lips, cheeks, or under-eye hollows. Most of the fillers we use are made from ingredients that are found naturally in the body. For people who have allergies or sensitivities to any of the ingredients in fillers, we may take extra precautions. During your initial consultation, your practitioner will review your medical history and help you determine whether dermal fillers are right for you.
How long does CoolSculpting take?
A CoolSculpting session typically takes about 35 to 60 minutes per treatment area, depending on the applicator and the area being treated. If you’re treating multiple areas in one visit, your total appointment time will be longer.
Does CoolSculpting tighten skin?
CoolSculpting does not tighten the skin, so it is usually recommended for patients with good skin elasticity. However, if your skin does not retract after treatment or if you have mild skin laxity, we may recommend combining CoolSculpting with microneedling or Thermage® to stimulate collagen and promote skin tightening in the treatment areas.
Is CoolSculpting permanent?
CoolSculpting permanently removes the treated fat cells. However, future weight fluctuations may cause the remaining fat cells to shrink or enlarge, potentially affecting your results.
Does CoolSculpting really work?
CoolSculpting is an effective, nonsurgical option for reducing localized subcutaneous fat, with clinical research showing that patients can experience up to 25% fat reduction in the treated area after one treatment.
However, patients should know that this treatment is intended for body contouring rather than weight loss, and it may require multiple sessions to achieve the desired results.
What’s the difference between BOTOX and filler?
Dermal fillers, such as JUVÉDERM® and Restylane®, work differently than BOTOX. Fillers diminish wrinkles and restore facial volume, while BOTOX relaxes the muscles that cause lines and wrinkles. Some fillers also trigger the production of collagen. Our doctors will sometimes use dermal fillers and BOTOX, injecting them in different areas for more complete rejuvenation. Talk to your doctor about what’s right for you.
Which is better: BOTOX or Dysport?
Neither BOTOX nor Dysport is universally better; both are effective treatments for reducing wrinkles, and they achieve similar results. Both are forms of botulinum toxin type A, though their formulations and consistency differ somewhat. The more important distinction is whom you select to provide your treatment. Our doctors are skilled injectors, and each is an experienced board-certified dermatologist. They can use BOTOX and Dysport strategically for different areas and aesthetic concerns and will help you decide which option is best for your needs and skin type.
Does BOTOX prematurely age you?
No, BOTOX does not prematurely age you. Instead, it temporarily reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, helping you maintain a youthful look. If you discontinue treatments, the aging process will gradually resume as the effects wear off.
Can BOTOX help you prevent wrinkles?
Because BOTOX is used to soften lines and wrinkles caused by repeated muscle contractions, it can be used proactively in younger people to prevent these concerns from forming in the first place. Without the repeated contractions of certain facial muscles, such as the ones that create crow’s feet and frown lines, the skin does not undergo repeated creasing and remains smooth. At what age should you start? It depends on a variety of factors, including the condition of your skin, your lifestyle (Do you spend time in the sun without sunglasses? Do you drink through a straw often?), and the facial expressions you frequently make. If you have concerns, our doctors can help you decide.
How do you make your BOTOX last longer?
Individuals who get BOTOX regularly tend to see that their results last longer between treatments. To maintain your results, follow-up treatments will always be needed.
When can I expect to see results from BOTOX?
Each person’s results will vary, but most people experience a visible reduction in their frown lines within 3 to 5 days. The lines will continue to decrease, with final results sometimes taking up to 2 weeks to emerge. Rarely a person’s body can build up immunity to the formula used in BOTOX, in which case the treatment will not have any effect.
Do BOTOX treatments hurt?
Discomfort is brief and minimal for most patients, and treatment usually lasts only about 10 minutes. For greater comfort, the treatment area can be numbed with a cold pack or topical anesthetic. After the procedure, you may experience localized tenderness or pain, but this should be temporary.
How much do BOTOX and Dysport treatments cost in Dallas?
Our prices for BOTOX and Dysport treatments depend on a variety of factors including the targeted areas, the number of areas being treated, and individual needs. We encourage you to make an appointment for a cosmetic consultation to create a custom treatment plan and discuss pricing in depth.
We participate in the Allē Rewards program for savings on future treatments. While it may seem advantageous to get a good deal on your treatment, your results and safety depend on the training and experience of your injector.

Is BOTOX Cosmetic safe?
BOTOX is considered safe, including for long-term use, when administered by a qualified professional. The product is naturally metabolized by your body over time. However, if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, have certain neurological conditions or are allergic to any of the ingredients in BOTOX, you should avoid this treatment. It’s best to consult with a healthcare provider to determine if BOTOX is right for you.
