Many people who visit a dermatologist in Dallas, TX, are looking for one thing — injectables. They’re one of the most talked about treatments in the aesthetic industry, and it’s no surprise why. Injectables such as BOTOX® and JUVÉDERM® have a relatively low price point, require no downtime, and give immediate results. We chatted with our PA, Jennifer Scheiderich, who specializes in injectables, to get the inside scoop.
What made you want to get into the aesthetic industry?
The aesthetic industry actually found me. I started in general dermatology doing primarily medical dermatology. We did a lot of medium-depth chemical peels for actinic sun damage, eventually adding lighter chemical peels for cosmetic treatments. BOTOX injections seemed like a great addition to our practice, and we just built upon that.
What do you like most about administering injectables?
I always tell patients that injectables are an art more than a science. I love seeing the look of surprise on a patient’s face when I’m able to add a pretty curve back to their cheek or plump a lip just right.
What questions do you get asked by patients most frequently?
The biggest question is simply, “what can you do for me?” That gives me a lot of freedom and allows me to be creative and develop a plan with the patient.
What are the top injectables right now?
The most popular injectables right now are the ones that create a natural, subtle, long-term effect. Bulk is unattractive. Soft, subtle volume is what we want.
What is the most common misconception about injectables?
I think the most common misconception or concern with patients is that they may look fake or overfilled. I tell patients that I tend to be a conservative injector and would rather have to add more product than take it out. Plus, I’m always honest with them. If they come in for lip filler and I don’t think they need it yet, I tell them.
