Sometimes regardless of diet, exercise, and good skin care, our face or body contours could use a little help. For our cosmetic dermatology patients at Dallas Center for Dermatology and Aesthetics, we offer a variety of nonsurgical treatments to sculpt your contours from head to toe.

For individuals who want to add volume to the face for a more youthful appearance, we offer dermal fillers. If a double chin is your biggest concern, KYBELLA® injections might be for you. And if you’d like to shrink fat in just about any area of the body, CoolSculpting® is an excellent choice. In this post, I’ll walk you through the basics of each of these options.

The Face: Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are injectable products that add volume to improve facial contours. They have become increasingly popular for facial rejuvenation because they do not require surgery or downtime. We offer hyaluronic acid fillers—including JUVÉDERM® products, Restylane® products, and BELOTERO BALANCE®—that fill in lines and wrinkles from beneath the skin. We also offer RADIESSE® and Sculptra® Aesthetic, each of which promote new collagen growth for healthy, younger-looking skin.

Good candidates for dermal fillers have moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds and loss of volume in the cheeks, lips, or under-eye area. Filler treatments can be can be a great option for men and women who want to look younger and more refreshed without surgery.

Hyaluronic acid fillers and RADIESSE provide immediate results, while results from Sculptra develop gradually. Regardless of filler type, patients can return to work the same day—some patients even schedule appointments during their lunch breaks. The effects are long lasting, but not permanent. Longevity of your results depends on filler choice and treatment area. You will need to return once or twice per year for repeat treatments to maintain your results. The Neck & Chin: KYBELLA

KYBELLA is an FDA-approved injectable treatment to reduce fat in the submental area, also known as the double chin. It is made from a chemical that is naturally produced in the body to help break down fat, so there is little chance of an allergic reaction. The treatment requires up to 50 small injections per session across the treatment area.

You may be a good candidate for KYBELLA if you have fat below the chin that is resistant to diet and exercise, you want to reduce this fat without surgery, and you are in good general health. If you are very afraid of needles, you may not be an ideal candidate.

Results typically begin to appear between 4 and 8 weeks after treatment, although many people don’t see results until after their second treatment session. KYBELLA requires 2 to 4 sessions spaced about a month apart to achieve optimal results, but once the fat is gone, results should last indefinitely.

All Over: CoolSculpting®

CoolSculpting reduces fat through a process called Cryolipolysis® that uses precise cooling to eliminate fat cells without harming the surrounding tissues. The treatment is based on the principle that fat cells freeze at a higher temperature than other types of cells.

CoolSculpting candidates have stubborn bulges of localized fat, are close to their goal weight, have good skin elasticity, and lead a healthy lifestyle. The treatment can address pockets of fat on the abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms, and back. The CoolMini applicator enables us to treat smaller areas on the body like the chin, neck, knees, and underarms.

CoolSculpting treatment results appear gradually and vary between patients. They are typically noticeable after 4 weeks and continue to improve for about 2 to 4 months. Some patients are satisfied with just one treatment, but many return for follow-up sessions to further reduce the bulges. Treatment can provide slimmer body contours that last indefinitely.

Cost of Contouring

One of the most common questions we hear is “How much does this treatment cost?” While it’s understandable that you want to plan for the expense of your treatment, I can’t quote an accurate price until I’ve evaluated you and developed a treatment plan. There are numerous variables to consider like how much product is needed and how many treatment sessions will be required to achieve your desired results.

To get a detailed quote on your treatment, or to get more answers to your questions, request a consultation or call our office at (214) 631-7546 to speak to an expert about fillers, KYBELLA, CoolSculpting, or any of the other great nonsurgical options we offer.
